Survival Without Food? MRE – aren’t so bad.

MRE is the acronym for Meals-Ready-to-Eat. These pouch meals were originally designed for our soldiers in the U.S. Military. These dishes are precooked and can be eaten cold or heated. Great attention to nutrition and tastiness goes into developing the recipes for military MRE’s.

Lets face it, we cannot survive without food and water. Every emergency plan/kit should have some kind of food in it. Years ago when my ex husband was in the military he would bring us home some MRE‘s (meals ready to eat). The first time he did I thought, “humm this is something you guys take with you out on the field when training, I’m sure it doesn’t taste that good.”  To my surprise they were actually pretty good. The boys and I liked most of the MREs plus the drinks and desserts were pretty good to.

Now days I would not think of not having any MRE‘s in our emergency kits. It’s funny that sometimes I even grab one of my favorites when I need something for lunch at work when we don’t have any left overs.  You may start off with a small amount and see what you and your family likes and keep those in your kits. Great for business’s and home emergency kits.
